Dimitri Ashkenazy, clarinet, was born in New York. A citizen of Iceland, he has lived in Switzerland since 1978. 1991 marked the beginning of his international career, with concerts in Italy and Portugal, as well as his London debut at the Wigmore Hall with his brother Vovka and Richard Stamper. Subsequent engagements have taken him around the world performing with such renowned artists and ensembles as the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Filarmonici della Scala, the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, the St.Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sinfonia Varsovia, the Camerata Academica Salzburg, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the Kodály Quartet, the Brodsky Quartet, Peter Maxwell Davies, Krzysztof Penderecki, Edita Gruberova, Barbara Bonney, Ariane Haering, and of course his brother Vovka and his father Vladimir Ashkenazy. Highlights of the season include performances with the English Chamber Orchestra, the Zürich Chamber Orchestra, the Brodsky Quartet and a tour of California with the Ives Quartet. Dimitri has recorded for Decca, Pan Classics, Gallo, Artemis Koch and Ondine.
