Luise Buchberger, cello, was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1984. She completed her studies on the modern cello with Clemens Hagen at the Mozarteum Salzburg and with Thomas Grossenbacher at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. Her involvement with historical performance practice began whilst still studying. Today she performs as a chamber musician, soloist and continuo cellist on both modern and period instruments.

Since 2009 she has been a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, with which she appears in the major concert halls of the world. She also regularly performs as a guest principal cellist with the Camerata Salzburg, the Kammerakademie Neuss and the Sinfonieorchester Vorarlberg. As a Baroque cellist, she plays in several renowned ensembles, including the recorder player Dorothee Oberlinger’s Ensemble 1700, with which she performs at important early music festivals and can be heard on the CD Telemann: Works for Recorder, released by Sony Music in 2008.

Luise Buchberger is also involved with Spira mirabilis, an experimental ensemble project which was founded in Italy in 2007 and in which she is the principal cellist. She plays a cello built by Lorenzo Ventapane (Naples, c. 1830).
