Maya Kai, violin, raised in Germany and Japan and started playing the violin in 1980. She studied intensively under Professors Gerhard Bosse, Masafumi Hori, Wolfgang Marschner and Daniel Gaede.
In 2000 she won second prize in the Ludwig Spohr International Violin Competition and in 2002 she obtained her diploma with distinction at the State University of Music and the Arts of Tokyo. The following year she obtained the second prize for the Forval scholarship of the Stradivarius Competition.
Maya Kai now regularly performs in recitals and concerts in Europe, the US and Japan. She recently appeared as a soloist with the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo, the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra, the Ishihara Lyric Ensemble, the Suedwestdeutsche Philharmonic and with the Cukurova Symphony Orchestra in Turkey.
From 2000 to 2004, she was involved in many chamber music activities among which she was a member of the Tokyo Ensemble. From 2004 to 2007 she assisted Professor Daniel Gaede at the Nuremberg-Augsburg Music Academy. She is also an associate concertmaster at the Staatstheater Orchestra of Darmstadt and at the Beethoven Orchestra of Bonn. Since 2010 she had taught at the State University of Music and the Arts of Tokyo.
